This policy covers this website only. It is not the Notice of Privacy Practices that describes how protected health information is handled for clients of the practice. Current clients receive that notice at intake and can request another copy at any time.
What this site collects
Information you give me
If you use the contact form, I collect your first name, last name, email address, and whatever you write in the message field. That’s it — the form asks for nothing else.
Please don’t include health information, symptoms, diagnoses, or other sensitive details in the contact form. It isn’t a secure or confidential channel. For anything clinical, use the client portal or call.
Information collected automatically
This site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use it. Analytics collects standard technical information: pages viewed, approximate location based on IP address, browser and device type, how long you stayed, and which site referred you.
This data is aggregated and is not used to identify individual visitors. Squarespace, which hosts this site, also collects standard server and security logs.
How that information is used and stored
Contact form submissions are sent to my email and stored in a Google Drive spreadsheet accessible only to me. I use them to respond to your inquiry and, if you become a client, to reach you about scheduling.
Analytics data is used to improve the site — to see which pages are useful and which aren’t.
I don’t sell, rent, or trade any information collected through this site. I don’t share it with anyone except the service providers that operate the site itself: Squarespace for hosting and forms, Google for analytics and Drive storage.
Cookies
This site uses cookies for basic functionality and for Google Analytics. Most browsers let you refuse cookies or alert you when a site sets one. Refusing cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all sites using Google’s browser opt-out add-on.
Links to other sites
This site links to the client portal (SimplePractice) and to jayewconsulting.com, my separate coaching and consulting practice. That practice is not a counseling service and is not covered by this policy or by HIPAA. This site also links to a small number of outside resources. Once you leave this site, this policy no longer applies — those sites have their own privacy practices.
Your choices
You can browse this site without submitting anything. If you’ve sent a contact form message and want it deleted, email me and I’ll remove it from both my inbox and the stored spreadsheet.
Children
This site is intended for adults. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 through this website.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
