Begin your marriage on purpose
Hi, I’m Julie (Jaye) Williams, LPC-S, NCC
MEET YOUR COUNSELOR
For more than twenty years I've sat with couples and professionals in the moments that change things — engagements, career pivots, ruptures, repairs. My approach blends evidence-based models with the practical wisdom that comes from two decades in the room.
I supervise the next generation of Texas counselors, and I bring that same standard of care to every session, in person in Arlington or by telehealth anywhere in Texas or Florida.
WHAT WORKING TOGETHER LOOKS LIKE
Insight matters. So does knowing what to do with it.
“Understanding the pattern is half the goal. The other half? Changing your mind about what you do with the first half.”
Understand the pattern
Identify what is driving the stress, conflict, or decisions you keep getting pulled back into.
Connect the dots
Personality, attachment, communication, work pressures, and history all shape what is happening now.
Practice different responses
Translate insight into practical strategies for boundaries, communication, and decision-making.
Move forward intentionally
Build clarity, flexibility, and confidence in how you handle what comes next.

GOOD TO KNOW

I'm in-network with most major plans — Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare/Optum, Medicare, and more. But coverage for couples counseling specifically has narrowed in recent years, and many plans that cover individual therapy won't cover work with a couple.
We'll verify your benefits before the first session. You may also need to call your insurer directly, so you know your expected out-of-pocket cost up front rather than after the fact.
Some EAPs I accept — including Lyra and Optum — cover a limited number of couples sessions. It's worth asking your employer: plenty of people have this benefit and don't know it exists.
Premarital counseling is education rather than treatment, so the Vows & Values™ package is a flat fee outside of insurance.

Couples therapy sessions with me run up to 75 minutes. The standard 50-minute hour is built around one person, and it's what most insurance plans reimburse as a full session. Seventy-five minutes gives both partners room to be heard and still leave with something to practice before the next week.
It looks more expensive at first, but it costs less than two separate individual sessions. When insurance covers couples work, the session length is adjusted to what the plan will reimburse — see Rates & Insurance for details.

Every therapist thinks they're “The One”! I'll spare you that pitch here — there are a lot of good therapists in DFW, and you could do well with several of them. Good news is you only need to find “The One” that is for you!
What I'd say about my own work: insight is just the first step. Understanding why a pattern exists matters, but you also need something to do differently on Tuesday. So I bring practical tools into the room alongside the understanding. In the room, that looks like collaboration, straight talk, and a willingness to challenge how you're seeing things — wrapped in humor, psychological safety, and unconditional positive regard.
That comes from working across more territory than most therapists cover — mental health, workplace communication, leadership, conflict, adaptability, and personality dynamics. Twenty-plus years of it, plus training in trauma-informed methods, the Gottman Method for couples, and Prepare/Enrich for premarital work. I'm also trained in transformative mediation, which focuses on preserving the relationship while working through conflict — useful in a therapy room more often than you'd think.

Twogether in Texas is a state-approved premarital education program. Complete an eight-hour course with a registered provider and you'll receive a certificate that gets you $60 off your Texas marriage license and waives the 72-hour waiting period between applying and marrying.
The Vows & Values™ package meets the requirement — four live two-hour sessions with a licensed counselor — and you'll leave with the certificate in hand.

Yes. Every service is available by secure video — couples therapy, premarital counseling, and individual therapy — for clients located anywhere in Texas or Florida. Florida services are telehealth only.
In-person sessions are available in Arlington, TX, serving Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Mansfield, and the surrounding DFW area. Many couples mix the two: they come in when schedules allow and meet by video when they don't.
